Islamist group to protest against Rihanna's Malaysian concert
Kuala Lumpur, Jan 25 (ANI): The Federal Territory PAS Youth will be demonstrating against Malaysia Government's decision to allow R and B singer Rihanna to perform live in Kuala Lumpur.
Yesterday, the country's administration had approved a scheduled concert by Rihanna despite opposition from Islamists.
It was scheduled for February 13 at Stadium Putra in Bukit Jalil.
Now, PAS chief Kamaruzaman Mohamad has said that they will demonstrate to exert pressure on the Government to show that the movement disapproved such concerts.
"We are considering the best possible way to object to this concert, probably through a demonstration or by handing out pamphlets," he told the Star Online.
The PAS wing had earlier handed a memorandum to the local sponsor of the concert Celcom (M) Berhad on grounds that it was not suitable for local culture and disrespectful of the Palestinians.
Kamaruzaman insisted that he was upset with the government's decision to reject their memorandum.
"Rihanna's image including her dressing is not suitable for our culture," he said.
"Even if she wore a headscarf here, we know it is not her real self because she performs differently in other places," he said. (ANI)
