New York, Jan 24 (ANI): English singer songwriter Sting and his wife Trudie Styler have both been instrumental in bringing about "Crude", a Sundance documentary.

The documentary is based on the world's largest oil-related environmental lawsuit, against Chevron, and the suit charges that the company has been polluting the Amazon for years.

Both Sting and Styler have helped Ecuadoran children to finally receive clean drinking water.

"I went down there and saw the problem face to face," the New York Daily News quoted Styler as saying at MSN Green and Self magazine's after-party.

"These indigenous people are about to be wiped out. The levels of hydrocarbons are so high [in Ecuador], we're seeing lots of children afflicted with leukemia. Mothers can't get their kids clean fresh water to drink. So we brought fresh water to them," she stated.

Sting added: "They wanted Trudie's advice on filming a movie. What they got was a powerhouse. She's on the front lines. Not me, though. I sing and help raise funds."

But for Styler, being on the front lines is not exactly what moves her.

"When you see these little children from a school we serviced, drinking confidently at the water fountain for the first time, it's a gratifying time," she added. (ANI)
