Rapid Action Team at Jim Corbett Park
Ramnagar (Uttarakhand), Jan 24 (ANI): In order to control the sporadic instances of poaching and hunting activities, the officials of the world famous Jim Corbett Park have instituted a Rapid Action Team as a crack unit of the Forest Department's Anti-Poaching squad.
Apart from nabbing poachers and forest produce mafia active in the region, this team will control man-animal conflict and thus protect the wildlife.

Although wildlife authorities are trying their level best to keep a strict check over the poachers and hunters, the number of tigers, leopards and elephants are reportedly sliding down with the passage of time.As such the wildlife authorities have formed special task force teams to keep a strict vigilance over the national parks, in order to avoid any kind of mishap, either to the animals or the habitats in the vicinity of the jungles.
"Rapid Action Team is formed to keep a check on the wild animals, so that they don't transgress into human habitation. And we also try our level best to keep a strict vigilance over this place," said Heera Singh Bisht, team leader, Rapid Action Team, Jim Corbett National Park.
The striped and spotted feline beauties not only face bullets from the poachers but also have to encounter alludes by villagers living around the sanctuary.
However, now onwards with the Rapid Action Team in 'action', such occasions of uman-animal conflict are bound to be kept in check.
"We have formed this team to keep a track of the wild animals. For example, if any of the wild animals will transgress into any village, then members of this team can get them back to the park safely. This team will also keep an agile check over the movements of poachers and hunters," said D S Rawat, Game Warden, Jim Corbett National Park.
Meanwhile, encouraged by the initial effective success of the Rapid Action Team, the Forest Department has planned to enhance its number and recruit more Rangers.
It is also learnt that many such teams will be formed in other national parks in the country such as Gir, Kaziranga, Bandipur, Mudumalai, Kanha, Tadoba, Jaldapara, Sariska and Ranthambore. By Vibhou Ganguly (ANI)
