Aug 09: Today only LTTE militants have put a claim that they have killed four personnel of special task forces. Along with the killing of four commandos others have been injured badly.
Incident took place when they launched retaliatory attacks on the forces Kanchkudichchiaru in the Ampara district.
Government has not issued any statement regarding the killings of STF personnel. Defence ministry has confirmed the killing of only two persons one a soldier and another a paramilitary trooper in the northern district of Vavuniya yesterday when rebels attacked a security bunkers there.
There is also the news of destruction of the rebel camp in the north by the Sri Lankan fighter jet. This Tamil tiger camp was around 150 miles away from Colombo and was the main supply centre of the insurgents.
There is upcoming news of more people killed in different clashes between the rebel group and government agencies. On Tuesday too in Trincomalee two rebels were killed by the patrolling soldiers.
Militants also claim that they have also killed two civilians. This unsurpassed violence is upcoming in the wake of visit of UN under secretary general for humanitarian affairs, John Homes.
Aid chief has termed Sri Lanka as the most dangerous place for humanitarian workers as the government has been unable to provide any safety cover to them. Rebels have taken the life of at least 34 humanitarian staff since January 2006.
Such exchange of violence is not new in Sri Lanka it owes its origin to the demand of independent Tamil land by Tamils in Sri Lanka. Despite the mediation of Norway and various ceasefire agreements violence is still going on.
