Karim succeeds Ramachandran as ASF chief

Chennai, Jan 23 (IANS) Sani Karim of Malaysia succeeded N. Ramachandran as the president of the Asian Squash Federation (ASF) at the Annual General Meeting here Friday.
Ramachandran, who last year was elected president of the World Squash Federation, stepped down to make way for Karim who is also the president of the Squash Rackets Association of Malaysia.
Also elected unopposed were three Vice-Presidents - incumbent David Mui of Hong Kong, former ASF Secretary General Srivatsan Subramaniam of India and Kuwait Squash Vice President Abdul Aziz.
The AGM placed on record the services rendered by Ramachandran to the Asian Squash Federation for 12 years.
Just prior to a standing ovation for Ramy (as he is fondly known), several delegates stood up to recount his deeds, and the passion with which he served the region.
The AGM, attended by delegates from 22 countries, contributed actively in discussions which involved promotion and development of the sport in the region and importantly the region's support to the WSF for the Olympic bid.
