Ramiz initially dropped from commentary panel
Karachi, Jan 23 (IANS) Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja was excluded from the commentary team for the ongoing one-day series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on the instructions of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), a newspaper report said Friday.
According to Urdu daily 'Jang', the PCB asked its broadcaster Ten Sports not to give the Pakistan-Sri Lanka series assignment to Ramiz. Apparently, it was because Ramiz has been critical of the PCB on various issues.
Ramiz, who is among the leading cricket commentator, then contacted Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed to resolve the issue, the report said.
Saeed, a close friend of PCB chairman Ijaz Butt, spoke to Butt after which the Board cleared Ramiz's inclusion in the commentary team.
In the past, another former captain Waqar Younis, now a commentator, also faced similar problems as he was blacklisted by the Board over his candid remarks on Pakistan cricket.
PCB should resolve contracts controversy, says Ramiz .
