'Ghajini' producer teams up with Ram Gopal Varma for 'Rann'

New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS) Madhu Mantena, co-producer of 'Ghajini', has joined hands with his first cousin Ram Gopal Varma for the latter's forthcoming media-based film 'Rann', which has Amitabh Bachchan in an important role.

'I could have basked in the glory of the success of 'Ghajini', but thought it wise to move ahead with other projects,' Mantena said. 'Besides, Abbas Tyrewala's '1-800-Love', starring John Abraham, I am now also a part of Ram Gopal Varma's 'Rann',' Mantena added.

Confirming partnership with Mantena, Varma said: 'I did not call Mantena on board for 'Rann' because of 'Ghajini' success. We always wanted to do a film together. Also, I needed someone to look after the monetary aspects and there could be nobody better than my cousin Madhu.'

'Rann' is Varma's attempt to 'expose the Indian media' and also stars Riteish Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal, Rajat Kapoor, Purab Kohli, Manisha Koirala and Gul Panag.
