Gurgaon, Jan 21 (IANS) Shalini Malik grabbed a two-shot lead over fancied Simi Mehra at the end of the first round of the eighth leg of DLF Women's Professional Golf Tour.
Shalini leads the field with a score of 77. Simi had a card of 79 as the picturesque par-72 DLF Golf and Country Club course played very long and difficult due to strong winds and fast tricky greens.
Shalini's round consisted of 10 pars, two birdies and five bogeys and a double bogey on the par 4, 15th hole. Her putting was her strength as she needed just 27 for the round.
Simi opened with a birdie, had two other bogeys and one double bogey for a 39 on front nine. On the back nine, she had no birdies and just four bogeys for 40 and a total card of 79.
