Four Telgi aides get bail in fake stamp paper scam

National, Tue, 20 Jan 2009 IANS

New Delhi, Jan 20 (IANS) The Delhi High Court granted bail to four aides of Abdul Karim Telgi, the prime accused in the Rs.30 billion fake stamp paper scam.

Justice S. Muralidhar granted bail to Mohammad Asif, Mansoor Ahmed, Mohammed Ajimullah and M.A. Hafeez after their counsel Anwar Ahmed Khan submitted that all of them are in jail for the past six years.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested them for selling in Delhi fake stamp papers supplied by Telgi.

The CBI had approached the court against the lower court's judgement in February last year, when Justice Dinesh Dayal had dismissed the CBI's argument to charge them.

Telgi is named in 48 cases of circulating counterfeit court stamps and stamp papers in different states.
