Kochi Metro Rail gets government nod

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 20 (IANS) The Kerala government Tuesday approved the proposed Rs.3,048-crore (Rs.30.48-billion) Kochi Metro Rail project and sanctioned Rs.5 million to set up an office at Kochi.

 

'Th project will be on similar lines to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. It will be a joint venture between the state and the centre,' Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan told reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting.

 

 

The project will cover a 26-km stretch between Tripunithura and Aluva and is expected to be completed in three years. Law Minister M. Vijayakumar will oversee the project execution.
