United Breweries net rises 67 percent

Mumbai, Jan 20 (IANS) United Breweries' net profit soared 67 percent to Rs.69.3 million for the quarter ended Dec 31 as compared to Rs.41.5 million in the corresponding period of the previous year, the company said Tuesday.
Its total income, however, declined 11 percent to Rs.917.5 million for the quarter under review from Rs.1,029.10 million in the corresponding period last year.
The company's total expenditure in the quarter decreased 8 percent to Rs.510 million as compared to Rs.552 million in the corresponding quarter last year.
The Bangalore-based liquor major said it currently holds close to 40 percent share in the Indian beer market.
