Rahul Khullar named divestment secretary
New Delhi, Jan 19 (IANS) Rahul Khullar, a 1975-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) with the union territory cadre, has been named the next secretary in the Department of Disinvestment.
He takes charge from Vivek Mehrotra, a 1974-batch IAS officer with Haryana cadre, who has been moved as secretary in the ministry of minority affairs, an official statement said Monday.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, cleared both positions.
The Department of Disinvestment functions under the finance ministry - a portfolio held by the prime minister himself.
Mehrotra takes over from M.N. Prasad, a 1972 batch IAS officer, who was earlier named secretary in the Prime Minister's Office in place of Pulok Chatterjee who has since moved to the World Bank as executive director
