Europe, Sat, 17 Jan 2009 IANS

Berlin, Jan 17 (DPA) Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier condemned Saturday's suicide bombing near the German embassy in Kabul as 'barbaric act'.

In a statement, the minister said: 'Germany remains committed to Afghanistan. Terrorism will not lessen our resolve to continue our help for the Afghan people.'

At least four people, including two Afghan civilians, were killed and more than 35 injured when a car loaded with explosives blew up near the embassy, which is adjacent to a US military base and a UN office building.

Several embassy staffers were among the injured, the foreign ministry said.
