Aug 06: The capital from the past one week is receiving continuous rainfall making weather a little pleasant but brought Dengue back in to the news as new cases have been reported. The mosquito borne disease is one of the health hazards which last year took lives of more than 60 people.

Delhi , though the capital of India but its civic condition is not up to the mark as should be in a metro and hence the wet climate can make the condition even worse.

We know Dengue is a viral disease and transmitted thorough AedesAegypti mosquito. As the civic condition of the city is very poor, water gets accumulated in various places where the mosquitoes easily breed.

During the monsoon season several mosquito born diseases like Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya are common in the capital and other parts of the country. Poor civic condition makes the disease one of the prime factor to look into in the rainy season. According to the reports of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme poor supervision and civic management had made the disease more serious last year despite having a huge number of private and public health care units.

As there is no specific treatment for dengue it becomes important for all of us to follow all preventive measures. People should cover their water tank and regularly check their cooler to check Aedes mosquito breeding.

To mention some symptoms of the disease that includes high fever, body pain, vomiting and rashes it becomes important to treat this as soon as possible otherwise can be serious.

However, despite taking some lessons from last September and October when all private and public hospitals were over crowded with dengue patients, neither the municipal corporation nor health departments has so far done anything impressive in this regard.

Hence individual should come forward in keeping their surroundings neat and clean and take all preventive measures to stop the breeding mosquito. Community awareness and appropriate civic laws are the only medicine that can reduce the risk of Dengue transmission.
