Terrorist camps in Pakistan still active: Indian Army commander

National, Thu, 15 Jan 2009 IANS

Jammu, Jan 15 (IANS) Stating that militant incursions from across the border in Kashmir had come down considerably, a senior Indian Army commander Thursday said terrorists training camps were, however, still active in Pakistan.

'There are about 800 terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir and different (terror) organisations are inter-linked,' Lt.Gen. P.C. Bhardwaj, the General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Northern Command, told reporters.

Bhardwaj was speaking to the media at Akhnoor near Jammu on the occasion of Army Day. He said the militant groups were coordinating their strikes.

Even though the infiltration of militants from Pakistan across the Line of Control (LOC) had considerably come down but 'a number of terrorists training camps are still active in Pakistan', he said.
