Three blasts occurred in Sivasagar and Goalpara district since morning till evening. The militants came to the site in Sivasagar disguised as shoppers and bought several essentials and hired a handcart to carry all the things in which they also planted the bomb which exploded around 8:00.
Their first target was near police station in Sonari town of Sivasagar district where a market is held on Sunday with huge gathering of people. Just within 10 minutes another bomb attached to bicycle exploded near a bus stand which injured almost seven people.
The vendor was trying to enter the police station but was checked by the security guards.
This is not enough. They planted a third one in Agia Bazar in Goalpara district, which blasted in the evening around 6:30.
Police told that recent incidents have occurred in wake of several arrests of ULFA militants by the police and their failed attempts to terrorize people. Recently they have received defeats at the hands of Army and police. These violent acts are being seen by the police as retaliatory.
On the eve of the blasts the police was allegedly informed by the intelligence agency about the probable bomb blasts by the 28 th battalion of ULFA.
Blasts harmed a petrol pump along with a roadside hotel. Injured people have been sent to hospital of the city where they were immediately attended. Those seriously injured were sent to Assam Medical College.
