India offers 10 percent stake in Petronet LNG to Qatar

New Delhi, Jan.14 (ANI): Union Petroleum Minister, Murli Deora has said that India is willing to offer a 10 per cent stake in Petronet LNG to Qatar.

 

Earlier, participating in the eighth edition of Asia's largest petroleum exhibition and conference 'Petrotech 2009' here, Qatar's Oil Minister Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah had said that his country is ready to supply an additional 2.5 million tones of LNG gas to India.

 

Qatar, the largest exporter of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), presently supplies 5 million tones of gas to India to meet its ever increasing demand.

 

According to an estimate, India currently needs 180 million cubic meters of gas per day to meet its needs but the actual supply is only 114 million cubic meters. (ANI)
