Costly tickets are making theatre elitist: Catherine Tate

London, July 10 (ANI): Catherine Tate has broken her silence on expensive 'stunt casting' and exclusive prices in the theatrical society.

She questioned the casting of celebrities on their name value alone, and insisted that parts should be given to right artist rather than celebrities randomly.

According to Tate, costly tickets are making theatre elitist."If you want more people to come to the theatre, don't put the prices at ?50," the BBC quoted Tate as saying.

The T.V. actress even said that she would happily take a pay cut if it meant more people could afford to see her on stage.

Catherine has stressed on making theatre inclusive rather than exclusive.

The 40 year old T.V. actress is currently rehearsing for her new play "under the blue sky", which begins next week at London Duke of York's theatre.

Tate, who played Doctor Who's assistant Donna Noble in the most recent series of the hit BBC One series, admitted her small-screen profile had probably been a factor in her landing her current role. (ANI)
