Modi wants a Buddhist temple in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Jan 13 (IANS) Underlining the importance of the Buddha's teachings in the contemporary world, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday said he wished to build a Buddhist temple in the state.

 

'Gujarat has ancient structures of Buddhist temples. The life and ideals of the Buddha are still relevant in today's material world that continue to inspire us one and all to seek a purpose of life and follow the path of righteousness,' Modi said adding he also wished to build a Buddhist temple in Gujarat.

 

 

He was speaking at a meeting with the delegations of various countries attending the annual Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit.

 

 

'Gujarat intends to host a global seminar on Buddhism at the M.S. University at Vadodara in cooperation with several nations in upholding the glorious legacy and cultural heritage of Lord Buddha,' he said.
