"It was one of the largest stone exhibitions to be organised in India. All the stake holders involved in the industry like processor, machine suppliers, technology suppliers, architects and builders, everyone who is related with this can assemble together, to share ideas and to take actions to promote it in times to come." said R K Gupta, CEO, Centre for Development of Stones.
With India producing 27 per cent of the stones produced in the world and exporting 11 per cent of the total global share, it is uniquely positioned to stage an event which is slated to become the largest expo on stone industry, anywhere in the world.
Local manufacturers also do feel that such events are helpful in show casing their products at a common platform so that buyers may get an opportunity to compare their products.
"Even though all the countries, whole world is suffering from financial crisis, we saw that India is one that suffers less and has more possibility to grow. It will also give other nations business opportunities to grow," said Antonia, businessman from Italy.
India stands third, next to China and Italy only in stone production. India's green marble is the pride of marble industry. Rajasthan alone contributes to around 65 per cent of total national production. By Lokendra Singh (ANI)
