UNHRC condemns Israel's Gaza offensive

Geneva, Jan 12 (DPA) The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Monday condemned the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip and called for an immediate ceasefire.

 

In a special session here, the UNHRC passed a resolution in a 33 against one votes votes for and one against, with 33 absentions, promising to send an international investigative commission to the region.

 

 

The 9th special session of the 47-member committee started Friday and was brought about at the behest of Muslim and African states.

 

 

European states were among those abstaining.
