London, Jan 11 (IANS) British authorities have rejected an asylum bid by one of the world's tallest women - a Pakistani who claims her height makes her a target of abuse in her home country.
However, 7ft-2in tall Zainab Bibi will be allowed to stay on because the British home ministry is considering further claims from her lawyers, the Mail on Sunday reported.
It will be the third such application by Zainab Bibi, who first told officials she would be persecuted for being a lesbian if she returned to Pakistan.
When that bid failed, she alleged she would be attacked there because of her size.
She said youths there had thrown stones at her, pulled at her clothing and broken her wrist. That claim has now also been rejected, but a Home Office spokesman said Saturday night: 'Further representations are currently being considered. While they are being looked at, she can stay in Britain.'
Zainab Bibi, who hails from Mandi Rajana village of Punjab province, came to Britain in 2006 on a promotion trip, and stayed on as she had a two-year visa.
She was given a council flat, together with 40 pounds a week in benefits.
