Sri Lanka's tour to Pakistan to continue as per schedule: PCB

Islamabad, Sun, 11 Jan 2009 ANI

Islamabad, Jan.11 (ANI): Despite the five bomb blasts which shook Lahore on Friday, the Sri Lankan tour will continue as per the schedule, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said.

"There will be no change in the wake of the low intensity blasts at the Mall Road in Lahore on Friday evening," The News quoted a PCB official, as saying.

The PCB has assured Sri Lanka Cricket of taking all important security measures during the series."A PCB official talked to the Sri Lanka official after the blasts and ensured him that we are taking all the security measures to ensure safety of the team during their forthcoming tour of Pakistan," the official said.

Sri Lanka is scheduled to play a One-day international beside a test match in Lahore in the upcoming tour.

Friday's blast in Lahore has raised fears that Sri Lanka would demand a change in the venue of the matches.

The PCB has already shifted the venue of the third One-day International from Faisalabad to Multan for what they said was due to technical reasons. (ANI)
