Pakistan, Sat, 10 Jan 2009 IANS

Islamabad, Jan 10 (IANS) Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the decision to sack National Security Adviser Mehmood Ali Durrani was taken in the best of interest of the nation and his decision was fully backed by President Asif Ali Zardari, GEO TV reported Saturday.

He expressed these views while talking to reporters after addressing a seminar to support democracy in Pakistan, the report said.

The prime minister said his decision to sack Durrani had full backing of the president. He said the decision was made in the larger interest of the country and 'being a democratic country we have complete homogeneity and conformity among all members of the government'.

Gilani disclosed that he had also met the director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and was given a briefing on the 52-page document on the 26/11 Mumbai attack handed over by India through US' Central Investigation Agency.

He said the reaction of ISI to the document was conveyed to India, after which there was no further development.
