Karachi, Jan 9 (IANS) Pakistan's dope-tainted fast bowler Mohammad Asif refused to appear before an Indian Premier League (IPL) drugs tribunal hearing in India without government's permission.
Asif was scheduled to appear before the IPL tribunal in London Jan 24 following a request from the pacer to shift the hearing to a neutral venue in the wake of tense India-Pakistan relations over November's terror attacks in Mumbai.
Asif said the tribunal hearing has been shifted back to Mumbai from London. 'But I will only go to India if I get permission from my government,' said the pacer, who is battling against a possible ban after he failed a drugs test in the inaugural season of IPL last May.
The lanky fast bowler has been suspended from all forms of cricket by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which says that it will only lift the ban after the bowler is cleared of doping charges.
