Rohani re-elected Madhya Pradesh assembly speaker

Bhopal, Jan 7 (IANS) Senior BJP leader Ishwardas Rohani was re-elected speaker of the 13th Madhya Pradesh assembly Wednesday. His election was unanimous.

Pro-tem speaker Jamuna Devi announced the candidature of Rohani soon after the house assembled for the third day Wednesday. She said no other nomination was received for the post.

Rohani said he would try his best to satisfy one and all while conducting the house 'but parties in the opposition must use discussion as a way of solving people's problems and not resort to frequent adjournments of the house while in session'.

Congratulating Rohani, Jamuna Devi, the leader of the opposition, said she did not want any confrontation with the government but sometimes it became unavoidable.

Rohani and Devi were congratulated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
