London, July 9 (ANI): British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is spearheading a campaign to promote the use of hybrids and electric vehicles in the car industry during his visit to Japan to attend the Group of Eight Summit.
Brown and other G-8 leaders have called for the use of such cars by 2020, reports The Sun.

Car firms have spent billions of pounds on development - and are spending billions more in research to deliver clean and green cars for motorists within the next ten years.
There will be a wide range of models, including plug-in electric cars and hydrogen fuel cell motors.
Companies will also work on improving the range of hybrid models that run on electric and petrol or diesel.
Hollywood hunk George Clooney, 47, who drives a single-seat electric city car - is already on Tesla's waiting list.
The machine can go from 0-62mph in four seconds and has a top speed of 124 mph.
The motor will cost 79,000 pounds.
General Motors and Nissan plan to have electric cars on the road for trials by 2010. Prices will be between 11,000 and 13,000 pounds. (ANI)
