A R Rahman launches mobile phone

Chennai, Jan 7(ANI): Noted music composer A R Rahman, who has earned the name Mozart of Madras, celebrated his 43rd birthday on Tuesday by launching the latest Nokia mobile phone in the XpressMusic series at Chennai.

 

The highlight of this Nokia 5800 Xpress music phone is its 'touch' technology including all other features required for a music phone.

 

Rahman has also composed an entire album titled 'Connections' for Nokia' which is preloaded in this phone having nine tracks giving all of them a distinct flavour.

 

"A mobile phone is a very convenient device for listening to music because you do not have to be cluttered with too many devices. So music on that is very convenient to hear whenever you want to. I thought it was a great idea to do content on for, " said Rahman.,

 

Rahman also said his birthday was a low key due to Moharram, which is a mourning period for Shiite Muslims all over the world.

 

"My birthday, this time, was a very low profile because it is Moharram and it is a tenth day of mourning," said Rahman.

 

Born as A S Dileep Kumar, Rahman converted to Islam at the age of 20 and became Allah Rakha Rahman while his mother Kasturi is now Kareema Begum.

 

In a career spanning sixteen years, Rahman has nearly 100 movies to his credit as a music director proving his versatility in different Indian languages as well. (ANI)
