Shimla, Jan 7 (IANS) An antique Buddha icon weighing about 20 kg has been recovered from a Himachal Pradesh village, police said Wednesday.

'We recovered an antique bronze icon of Buddha during a raid at a village in Hamirpur district Monday night,' Hamirpur Superintendent of Police Asif Jalal told IANS.

He said one person had been arrested under the Antiquity and Art Treasure Act.

'The recorded telephonic conversation of the man reveals that he was trying to sell the icon for Rs.1 crore (Rs.10 million) in various states like Assam, Mumbai and Rajasthan,' he said.

Jalal said the icon would be sent to the Archaeological Survey of India in New Delhi for further identification.
