Separatists in Kashmir pledge to continue their struggle
Srinagar, Jan 6 (ANI): Separatist groups in Kashmir pledged to continue their activities till the Kashmir problem is solved in their favour.
This was spelt out at a seminar 'Applicability of Right to Self-Determination in 21st Century and Kashmir Issue' here on Monday evening.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chief of the moderate fraction of All Parties Hurriyat (Freedom) Conference (APHC) reiterated the separatists stand as the new coalition Government of National Conference (NC) and Congress party headed by Omar Abdullah of NC assumed office at Jammu.
"We in Srinagar pledge to people of Kashmir that we will continue our struggle till the Kashmir problem is solved," said Farooq.
Syed Ali Shah Geelani, senior leader of the hardline faction of the APHC, who also attended the seminar, said the election turnout did not behove the separatists in the state.
"People did come out to vote, even if it was 26 per cent or 30 per cent. They voted for roads, for daily wage employment, for other employments, food materials, which did not behove a community which turned out in hundred thousands on the street only recently demanding freedom," said Geelani.Omar Abdullah's National Conference party emerged as the single biggest party in state elections that ended in late December.
