London, Jan 05 (ANI): Television actor David Tennant has delighted fans by returning to the West End production of Hamlet for the final week of performances after recovering from a back injury.

Tennant hopes to appear for the play, being held at Novello Theatre, every night until the run ends on Jan 10

The 'Doctor Who' actor's fans were disappointed, when he was forced to pull out of the production early last month to undergo surgery for a prolapsed disc.

His recovery was slow and the Royal Shakespeare Company voiced doubts that he would return at all,

However, he performed on Saturday to a standing ovation from the delighted audience, who had turned up in the expectation of seeing understudy Edward Bennett in the lead role.

"We will be assessing David's return to each Hamlet performance on a day by day basis so patrons are being invited to check our website from 12 noon each day for an update for that evening's performance," the Telegraph quoted a RSC spokesman, as saying. (ANI)
