Richard Boucher to visit Pakistan

Asia, Sun, 04 Jan 2009 ANI

Lahore, Jan. 4 (ANI): The US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia affairs, Richard Boucher, is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Monday as part of Washington's efforts to defuse tension between India and Pakistan following the Mumbai terror attacks.

Boucher's visit to Pakistan is aimed at removing the threat of war in South Asia, irrupted after the Mumbai attacks. He is also scheduled to discuss the war on terror and bilateral issues with the Pakistani leadership, the Daily Times reported.

Earlier, an FBI team, which is investigating the Mumbai attacks, had visited the Lahore Airport and the Wagah border check post.

The team was speculated to have visited Faridkot, the ancestral village of Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist arrested for his role in the Mumbai terror attacks. (ANI)
