Israel allows over 300 foreigners to leave Gaza
Tel Aviv, Jan 2 (DPA) Israel has permitted some 367 Palestinians with foreign passports to leave the Gaza Strip Friday, according to the foreign ministry.
They include 168 people from Russia, 85 from Ukraine, 28 from Moldova, 25 from Kazakhstan, 15 from Belarus, 33 American passport holders, seven Turks and six Norwegians, senior foreign ministry official Yigal Palmor said.
He said Israel coordinated their exit after receiving requests from their respective embassies in Israel.
Palmor said the foreigners would be allowed through Israel's Erez crossing with northern Gaza Friday morning, from where they were to be transported by their embassies to the Allenby border crossing with Jordan.
He said foreign diplomats and staff of aid agencies were able to leave and enter Gaza without prior coordination and pass through the border crossings, which were open to humanitarian aid.
