Monkeys scare residents of Aurangabad
Aurangabad, Jan 1 (ANI): Monkeys have made life difficult for the residents of Aurangabad town in Maharashtra. Moving in a group of 40 to 50 in number, they seem to be all over the place.
The residents are scared of the monkeys becoming quite a menace inhulambi. The monkeys not only run down the crop in the field, but also eat seeds from the ploughed field.
"There are lots of monkeys in our village and these monkeys move in a group of 40 to 50 in number. They eat soyabeans, maize and cotton seeds from our ploughed fields," said Vasant, a villager.
The villagers are concerned that their hard work on field can go in vain. The monkeys run down the ploughed fields and take out the seeds from under the tilled earth.
"We had a word with the team of experts in catching the monkeys. They are asking for 200 rupees per monkey. Thus, we have sent a proposal to our higher officials. We will start our action once they sanction the proposal," said M Fahim Mehmood, Assistant Forest Conservationist.
Wild herds of monkeys sneaking into the households of Phulambi sub-districtf Aurangabad district is a common sight. They feed on the eatables kept in the kitchen.
The frantic calls by the people to the forest authorities appear to have fallen on deaf ears. Though the authorities make tall claims to have prepared an elaborate plan, the harried people are left to fend for themselves.
The wild animals straying into the populated areas across the country bear testimony to the decreased natural habitats.
The residents of Phulambi may have to bear the brunt of the monkeys till the forest authorities wake up from the deep slumber. By Abdul Hadi (ANI)
