India sends a high level team to Kabul

New Delhi, July 7 (ANI): A special team headed by secretary in the External Affairs Ministry, Nalin Surie is leaving for Kabul in the wake of the blast this morning at the Indian embassy, which killed 41 people and injured over 141 people.

 

Nalin Suri is being accompanied by officials from the Home Ministry and the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). He is flying by a special air force aircraft and also taking along with him a medical team to tend to the injured in Kabul.

 

Meanwhile, the External Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee has condemend the terror attack which killed five personnel of the Indian embassy, which includes the defence attache Brigadier R Mehta , Counsellor V. V. Rao , two Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officials and a local employee in the embassy.

 

A suicide bomber had rammed a car full of explosives into the gates of the Indian embassy in the Afghan capital this morning during rush hour.

 

About 3,000 Indians are working on various reconstruction and developmental projects in Afghanistan and they have often been subjected to attacks by the terrorist group, Taliban. (ANI)
