London, July 7 (ANI): Former hostage Ingrid Betancourt has announced that she would return to Colombia 'in a few days' to write a play about her harrowing experience of being held in the jungle by Marxist rebels for six years.

The 46-year-old French-Colombian politician, who arrived in France last week after being reunited with her family, revealed her plans to French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.

"I shall return to Colombia in a few days. Meanwhile I want to see France, all of France. But I also want to be alone with my children ... I want to give this time to my family, to the father of my children whom I adore, who fought an extraordinary fight for me," the Telegraph quoted Betancourt, as stating in the newspaper.

The newspaper asked her whether she would write a book about her experience, to which she replied: "I'll write a play".

Betancourt has been given a clean bill of health by doctors in her first examination since being rescued from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

Betancourt also reiterated that she does not believe her freedom was bought with a ransom, but that given the suffering she endured, if it had been paid "why not?"

"If it were true, so much the better. Why not? I suffered terribly," she said. (ANI)
