Giant panda that survived China quake gives birth to twins
New Delhi, July 7 (ANI): A giant panda that miraculously survived the May 12 earthquake in the Wolong Nature Reserve has given birth to twins in Ya'an City in China's Sichuan Province.
According to a China Daily report, the panda going by the name of Guo Guo was evacuated from the Wolong Nature Reserve just in time, and on Sunday, she gave birth to her twins.
The elder of the two cubs of the proud 12-year-old mother weighed 170 gram at birth Sunday.
Guo Guo was among six pandas that were shifted from the quake-hit China Giant Panda Research Center in the Hetaoping Base of the Wolong Nature Reserve to neighboring Ya'an city in Sichuan province last month.
Till May 12, the base was home to 63 pandas, one of which was killed in the quake and another is missing.
The surviving pandas are being moved to panda breeding bases in Fujian, Yunnan and Guangdong provinces. (ANI)
