17 killed as lift crashes in China

Changsha (China), Dec 27 (Xinhua) At least 17 workers were killed and one was seriously injured when a lift crashed at a construction site in central China's Hunan province Saturday.
The accident occurred at about 7.30 a.m. at the construction site of a real estate project named 'Shanghai City' in downtown Changsha, the provincial capital, according to the municipal government.
Further details were not immediately available.
The project was being developed by Hunan-based Dongfanghong construction group, which was established in 1965.
The injured have been sent to hospital.
