Sania improves her WTA ranking to 35th
July 24: Sania Mirza's previously ranked 38 th in WTA has now moved to the 35 th place. Mirza’s fine performance in Cincinnati open doubles and singles made this improvement in WTA’s latest singles ranking.

Sania after winning the Cincinnati doubles title with her American partner Bethanie Mattek has moved up in the doubles ranking too to 36 th.
Though she had made a good run at Cincinnati in the singles too but fell behind Russian Anna Chakvetadze in the semifinal clash. The Russian is presently ranked 7 th and that really made the difference in the last match.
Now Sania will play her next match on Tuesday night at Stanford in the Bank of the West Classic tournament, a Tier2 WTA event. She will face Akiko Morigami of Japan who is currently ranked 44 th moving 17 places up from her previous ranking.
Among the other women tennis players Justine Henin and Maria Sharapova continue in Rank 1 and Rank 2 while Serena Williams dropped one place to 8 th.
2007 Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams has also moved up one place to 16 th while runners up Marion Bartoli remain on 11 th as per the latest WTA ranking released on Monday.
Despite Wimbledon second round loss Sania moves to 38th in WTA ranking.
Sania progress into the 2nd round of Cincinnati Open, both in singles and doubles.
