Hindustan Aeronautics Limited observes 68th foundation day

Bangalore, Dec 24 (ANI): Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) celebrated its 68th foundation day here on Tuesday when all the aircraft manufactured by HAL were showcased at the event.

 

Four Sarang ALHs and six Surya Kirans apart from Hawks, prototype light combat aircraft (LCA) and intermediate jet trainers (IJT) were among the aircraft, which took part in the impressive show which was witnessed by 16,000 people.

 

On the occasion, veteran employees were honoured with mementoes while the thousands of guests including family members of the employees were treated to a thrilling air show by the combat aircraft and helicopters manufactured by HAL and flown by ace pilots of Indian Air Force (IAF).

 

According to Ashok Nayak, Managing Director of HAL it was proud moment for the company to showcase these aircraft as the company has diversified and earned a name as the national aerospace industry.

 

"Order book position is about 570 billion rupees including export orders itself are about seven billion rupees. So we are showcasing ourselves as a company with lot of versatility, ability to do variety of programmes - fighters, trainers, and even civil aircraft. We have taken up the NAL Saras for manufacture. We will be launching another very large aircraft programme on the civil side. So, we will be showcasing our capability, our diversity and ability as the national aerospace industry," said Nayak.

 

A flight of Sarang helicopters performed spectacular air displays. The leader of this chopper aerobatic team said that it was an honour to perform on such an auspicious occasion.

 

"The Sarang team and HAL have been part and parcel since the team was formed initially because the team flew the indigenously built, HAL built ALH (Advanced Light Helicopter) aircraft and subsequently named as Sarang, and had it not been for the support and the structure provided by the HAL, we wouldn't probably have been able to carry out this task," said Squadron Leader Mudit Chaurasia, Flight Commander, Sarang display team.

 

HAL is the premier aerospace company involved in the design, development, manufacture and maintenance of advanced fighters, trainers, helicopters and associated engines, accessories, avionics and airborne systems.

 

Headquartered in Bangalore, HAL has 18 production units and nine research and design centers in the country with strength of 32,000 expert engineers, technicians and other workers. (ANI)
