Amrish Singh Gautam elected deputy speaker Delhi assembly

New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS) Congress's Amrish Singh Gautam was elected deputy speaker of the Delhi assembly Tuesday, the last day of the first session of the newly elected legislature.
Gautam is a close supporter of Delhi Chief minister Sheila Dikshit and was elected from Kondli constituency for the assembly.
Last week, former health minister of the Delhi government Yoganand Shastri was chosen the speaker.
Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party leader V.K. Malhotra lashed out at the government for delaying the death penalty of parliament attack accused Mohammad Afzal Guru. Malhotra charged the government of holding the file with them.
Afzal has been on death row for the last three years.
