Calcutta High Court rejects Pradeep Todi's bail plea
Kolkata, Dec 23 (IANS) The Calcutta High Court Tuesday rejected the bail plea of industrialist Ashok Todi's brother Pradeep Todi, in jail for his alleged involvement in the mysterious death of his niece's husband Rizwanur Rehman last year.
The court said Pradeep Todi had played a key role in abetting Rizwanur's suicide by giving money to the Rizwanur's neighbour S.M. Moinuddin alias Pappu for separating him from his wife Priyanka.
Pradeep Todi has been at the Presidency Jail in south Kolkata since Dec 8.
Rizwanur, a 30-year-old Muslim graphics designer working with a multimedia firm, was found dead Sep 21 last year near the railway tracks at Kolkata's Patipukur suburb, barely a month after marrying Ashok Todi's daughter Priyanka, a Hindu.
The case shocked the entire nation, which saw it as a Hindu-Muslim love story driven to a tragic end.
