Cancellation of Indian cricket tour 'very unfortunate' says Shafqat Rana
Lahore, Dec.20 (ANI): Former Pakistan test cricketer Shafqat Rana has termed the cancellation of Indian cricket team's tour to Pakistan as 'very unfortunate'
He said that the decision of the Indian government will prove very damaging for cricket.
"The Indian government has deprived millions of cricket fans around the globe from top class cricket," The Daily Times quoted Rana as saying.
Rana said that India-Pakistan cricket has millions of fan following.
He said that sports and politics should not be mixed.
"After the terrorist attacks the Indian government should have allowed cricket diplomacy to ease the tensions between the two countries," he added.
Rana said that terrorism acts can happen anywhere in the world, but it does not mean that sports activities should come to a halt.
Hoping that the strained relationship between the two nations would improve soon, he said: "I hope the situation will improve so that bilateral ties are revived, which is very important for the region." (ANI)
