Curfew continues in Indore

Indore, July 5 (ANI): Curfew continues in all the 27 police station areas of Indore, after it was imposed yesterday following violence that broke out over revocation of land transfer to Amarnath Shrine Board in Jammu.

However, there have been no reports of any untoward incidents since last evening.

Additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order situation.

Four people, including two Muslim, were killed when Hindu groups clashed with them, forcing police to open fire and lob tear gas shells. According to an eyewitness, at least five people were injured after receiving bullets shots.

The government's decision of transferring 40 acres of forestland to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has triggered large-scale protests and violence in the state.

After hue and cry and nearly two weeks of the row over the 40-acre land allotted to the Amarnath shrine, the Jammu and Kashmir Government had two days ago revoked the allotted land and had passed on the land to the State Tourism Department. (ANI)
