Criminals are running the country, says Mumtaz Bhutto
Karachi, July 5 (ANI): Without naming PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, the paternal uncle of former Pakistan premier Benazir Bhutto, has said that people who had made a profession out of crime were today ruling the country and that "decision regarding the country were in their hands".
People who had made a profession out of crime had been thrust upon the people, and the decisions of the country and its fate were in their hands. Now, there was no way out but for the masses to fight for their own rights and save the country, Bhutto said.
"The present rulers have proved within three months that they lack the direction to run the government. Crime, corruption, inflation have tripled during the reign of the present government. On the other hand, the lavish expenses of parliament and its ministers come after defense," the Daily Times quoted Bhutto as saying.
Bhutto said this while talking to people at his residence Friday. He said that there were many people, who have been behind bars for more than 20 years in criminal cases, and thus had more of a right than the present rulers.
Notably, Zardari has been behind bars for almost a decade, as he faced several huge corruption charges running into several crores. But, a couple of months after the PPP assumed power at federal level, all pending cases against him were withdrawn in different cases. (ANI)
