In five years, PM paid maximum official visits to Maharashtra
New Delhi, Dec 18 (IANS) Over the last five years, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has officially visited Maharashtra 24 times - more than he has visited any other state in the country, the Rajya Sabha was informed Thursday.
Prithviraj Chavan, minister of state in the Prime Minister's office said that after Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh was the second most often visited state by the prime minister - 18 times.
Uttar Pradesh followed next with 14 official visits, then Tamil Nadu with 12 visits and then Jammu and Kashmir with 11 visits.
The northeastern states have been some of the least visited. While Manipur was visited twice in five years, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh were visited once. Assam was, however, visited nine times in the same period.
