Colombo, July 4 (ANI): Former Sri Lankan Tamil Tiger renegade Colonel Karuna arrived here on Friday after completing a prison sentence in the UK, British embassy officials said.

Embassy spokesman Dominic Williams was quoted by the BBC as saying that Colonel Karuna had been removed from a UK detention centre and deported to Sri Lanka on July 2.

The embassy refused to give any more details about his arrival.

A spokesman for his Tamil Peoples' Liberation Tigers party said that Colonel Karuna was "delighted" to be back home. (ANI)
