July 21: The adventurous journey of Harry Potter comes to its finale with the release of the seventh and final volume ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’. Book was received with all the enthusiastic and excitement readers could show.
Fans all over the world mobbed the book-stores to get the copy of the book on Saturday night. More than 5,000 fans of potter reportedly queued up hours ago the opening of the book at Waterstone’s bookstore in London in the cloak of the characters of the novel giving the release of the book a look of festival.
The book keeps abreast many secrets as who will win the battle, Harry or his enemy, Voldemort? What these deathly hallows are? Will Harry die? is million dollar question for Potter fans and who is mysterious R.A.B. several others perplexing the mind of the Potter maniacs. The popularity of the book can be gauged from the fact that in US alone 12 million copies have been ordered. 2.2 million’s order rested with Internet Amazon and Britain royal mail boasts of delivery order of 600,000 copies.
Book-stores were legally bound not to release the book before its releasing time that was at midnight. Yet some internet sites revealed some content of the text online inspite of the much care taken by the publishing house spending huge amounts to maintain the secret of the content. Two US news papers provided the reviews of the book two days ahead of the scheduled launch of the book by Rowling. Rowling was taken by surprise by the leaks of the content. She appealed to readers not to let the secret out of the book.
But the comforting point was that even after the leak of the content no reader was interested in knowing about the end of the book before getting one’s own copy.
The suspense was maintained from Tokyo to Taiwan and Australia to New York. The fever of Potter was so high that readers of London did not mind the heavy rains and lined up hours ago to explore the fate of their wizard hero. Before the release of the book there have been speculations over whether Harry would die? Everybody wants the good to win and the evil to die.
Experts believe that the popularity graph of this new addition to the series would be higher than earlier editions.
Rowling introduced the most celebrated character a decade ago with the launch of ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ which brought millions back to book reading habit and revived the reading culture.
People are preparing themselves to face the end of the book. Because if Harry dies out they are very much likely to feel a sense of loss over their hero’s death. But if not they will have the chance to have more adventures with their wizard boy.
