Chennai Petroleum unaffected by RIL's supply default
Chennai, Dec 17 (IANS) Refiner Chennai Petroleum Corp Ltd (CPCL) will not be affected by the failure of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) to supply it with crude, a top company official said here Wednesday.
RIL was supposed to have supplied 40,000 tonnes of crude to the Chennai-based refiner from its Krishna-Godavari (KG) basin's D6 block last month.
'The quantity is too small when one looks at our scale of operations. We process 900,000 tonnes of crude oil per month,' CPCL managing director K.K. Acharya told IANS.
According to him, it was 'a trial order' placed with RIL.
A RIL spokesperson confirmed that his company had failed to make the supply, but declined to say anything further.
CPCL imports crude with low sulphur content, similar to the one discovered in RIL's D6 block.
