Hyderabad police not intimated on Kasab's fake ID card

National, Wed, 17 Dec 2008 IANS

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (IANS) Police here have so far not found any city link to the terror attack in Mumbai though Ajmal Amir Kasab, the only militant caught alive in the horrific strike, was reportedly found in possession of a student identity card belonging to a Hyderabad college.

Police officials said they have not received any communication from their Mumbai counterparts about the terrorists' possible links to Hyderabad or about the recovery of a fake identity card.

Mumbai Police reportedly found on Kasab an ID card in the name of Naresh Verma, s/o Vilas Verma, student of Arunodaya Degree and PG College. The residential address on the card was H. No. 28-B, Mamata Nagar, Nagole.

The college is located near a Sai Baba temple in Dilsukhnagar. Two people were killed in a bomb blast at the temple in 2002. But the residential address is fake as there is no Mamata Nagar in Nagole.

The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra is trying to find out from Kasab the purpose of making the fake ID card.

Police sources said the terrorists might have prepared the fake ID card by downloading information from the internet or with the help of local terror operatives.
